The new center supports the 109 cameras that have been deployed across the city of Newark. The new Surveillance center, located in the Police Department Communications Building, provides a look at specifically crime-ridden neighborhoods, allowing police to respond almost instantaneously to suspicious or criminal behavior. At a press conference on Tuesday, July 01, 2008, Mayor Cory A. Booker thanked International Information Systems (IIS) for a job well done and for their efforts in getting the center opened on time.
